Connect Koan to MS Teams to stay looped in on your team’s latest reflections. This integration allows employees to stay focused on the work that matters most without leaving MS Teams. Quickly build positive team habits of sharing status, recognizing wins, and identifying concerns early, raising the bar for everyone else around them.

We'll let you know directly in your MS Teams channel when:

  • It’s time to complete your reflection

  • Your teammates post their reflections

Setting up Microsoft Teams

To connect Koan to MS Teams, you will need to be an Organization Administrator, as well as have admin privileges in your Microsoft instance. You can enable Koan’s MS Teams integration by selecting Manage Organization> General > Authorize Microsoft Teams.

You will be routed to an authorization screen. After reviewing the permission, click Accept. You’ll then be routed back to our app, with the integration showing as “connected.”

Now that you’ve made the connection on an org level, other teams are able to independently connect to a channel they are connected to MS Teams.

Connecting to a Channel

To connect your Koan team to an MS Teams channel, you must be a Team Admin. First, navigate to your team within Koan and select Manage Team > Integrations > Connect Microsoft Teams.

You will then be routed to an authorization screen. After reviewing the permission, click Accept.

You’ll then be routed back to Koan, with the integration showing as “connected” and the option to set up a channel. Select Set up. Then under the Team dropdown, select a team from MS Teams. Then under the Channel dropdown, select a channel from MS Teams. Then click Save.

Adding the bot to a team

In order to have Koan automatically publish Reflection reminders and updates in your MSTeams channel, you’ll need to add a bot to your team. To connect your Koan team to an MS Teams channel, open up the MS Teams app and navigate to the Apps tab in the bottom left sidebar, and search for Koan.

Click Add to Team and then find the matching team and channel you previously selected in Koan's team settings.

From there, you’ll be transported to the MS Teams channel and you see a new welcome message from Koan.

And that's it! You will begin to receive regular reflection reminders as well as updates whenever anyone completes their reflection, all directly from your MS Teams channel.

Please note: Koan can only be added to a single organization in MS Teams. Each team can connect to a different team channel, but all channels need to be in the same MS Teams org.

The Koan integration is only available on paid MS Teams accounts.
